My Friend Sancho : My Ways Of Reading It!

I may not have told you all … but I’m a big Fiction reader . I often Spend my whole pocket money on books and later end up starving!
A month before , I Chanced upon this book on Landmark ( I Love the Place and it’s ambiance… the Smell Of Books Feels Sooooo Good!) called ” My Friend Sancho” By Amit Varma. Amit varma , as many of you may not know , is a celebrated blogger. He shot to fame with his blog India-Uncut !

Now my post here is not a review or something of the book ! Amit Varma’s debut novel My Friend Sancho is a welcome change. It is not ‘Welcome Change’ because of any literary merit or anything of that sort , but to include a freshness in writing Style in Indian fiction. What I utterly found disgusting , is the fact that he is being compared to the Badass IIT-IIM Fellow , popularly known As Chetan Bhagat!. Varma Is Contemporary On his attitude , writing and storyline! Atleast he doesn’t keep boring his readers with shits ,which Bhagat has been doing all this while.

The novel is set in contemporary times, in the city of Mumbai. What’s unique in this novel is that it is contemporary both in temporal sense as well as cultural sense. It’s fun reading it. I mean , the book takes care of the average sense of humor of every youth!My Friend Sancho is strictly R-rated . Do not Gift It to your dad … Your Butt Would be kicked off like never before.

Having said that this is a funny book , that doesn’t mean there’s nothing serious. The Book is an intricate and impulsive take on modern situations. It is a very interesting novel , which actually touches varied fields such as Journalism, Tabloid culture , Police , Encounters and Politics.

Now , the purpose of this post is to tell you guys , a few things which might be useful to enjoy the book :

1> First and foremost … Do not assume or expect anything! . This is the BIGGEST mistake all readers make . I have seen some internet posts which has all the crazy shit about this book. This book is Meant to be enjoyed with a casual mind. You need not scrutinize everything!

2> Second … it is a plus point if you are familiar with this world of ‘unconventional’ Blogging , Which Varma Specializes in. It would be easier to get the punch lines , which varma keeps delivering every instant!

3> Think Out of the Box … this book is what I call a classic example of ‘out of the box’ thinking . You Cannot Enjoy The Book until and unless you set your mind free . There are quite a few things in the book that would require your imagination .
Now , If you keep pressing your mind… and yell … ” how the hell did this happen?” … you being an insensitive jerk !

4> Enjoy the Unconventional Language . This book is written in a very enjoyable language that we youth are accustomed of! It is advisable that you Follow Amit varma’s Blog! Mind my Words.. this book would surely set you laughing!

Now for all you people who claim themselves to be imaginative and cool! … this book is your’s for a read! . If you want a flavour of uncanny , witty , dark comedy … Go grab a copy and enjoy.
Do not try to be judgmental . You Would be the biggest Dolt of All Times!

Cartoons in My Free Time !

One Of the Things that I forgot to tell You on my first post is I also do cartooning … Of Course , It Is Purely Dependent On My Mood!

Yesterday Was one Of Those very rare evenings. My sketchpad actually thanked me for using it ( For the first time… in three months) …

So.. here Are a few samples that I created , when my creative Genes were on Full Swing!.

The ‘ Larai – Jhagraa’

Aha … One of the few good things that has happened to me in this lonely , tiresome and boring vacation is 3-idiots. I’ve watched the film twice and slowly gathering a hard feeling for those who haven’t seen it till now !
So , to put it simple .. I loved the film and wouldn’t mind watching it a few more times . One Of my close friend ( actually a senior), Ishan bhaiyya , has very intellectually and immaculately crafted Some Goof-up’s . I like his joblessness! Cheers to Him ….

Now , What’s creating a situation of tension in this supposedly Peaceful world is the ‘larai-jhagra‘ . I have been following the controversy between Chetan Bhagat And Aamir Khan for quite a time now , and I am getting Bored now!

I think Bhagat is right to feel a hard punch across his face. While much of what made the film so entertaining was not in the book,that is the case with many adaptations, including slumdog- millionare to be one of the example. It’s a well gathered fact that the genesis of the story was certainly the book, and by having a story credit at the start of the film that did not include Bhagat’s name, the film-makers were being intellectually dishonest. I mean , how much would it cost the film-makers to put up Bhagat’s name along with Abhijat Joshi and Hirani. I think , It’s very silly on their part , not to acknowledge Bhagat’s name. The resultant publicity has done everyone involved a world of good. Bhagat’s books must be flying off the shelves, and I don’t imagine he will be pissed for long. ( I even Got to Know that he has already apologized to Aamir Khan … Asshole .. . Why the hell did u even start the chaos then !)

Also, the contract itself is ridiculous. Bhagat actually signed his film rights away in perpetuity. This is crazy. A standard clause in most adaptation rights in the West is that if the film isn’t on the floors within a particular period, the rights revert to the author. What if Chopra’s team lost interest in this film, moved on to other projects, and Danny Boyle came to Bhagat and said he wanted to make a film on his book? Bhagat would be helpless, because the rights would be with VVC, who could either be churlish and refuse to part with them, or could benefit from the resultant windfall without Bhagat seeing any share of it.

Anyways , All I want to say is put a stop to this controversy or whatever educated people call it . People are getting really bored now! Go Watch the film and say All Izz Well ….

Okay…. So I Am Blogging in this wordpress Now.. Cool!! . I really feel that I should write about myself a bit on my first post ( I Don’t really like neglecting myself)

So, to Start with.. My Name. My friends call me ankyy!!! (yes… the exclamation marks are important , Meet me and I’ll show you how to yell my name ) . I am a very lazy , jobless , and utterly boring person. I am unclear about my ambitions and goals in life. I am not the type of guy , you would like to be with. I will drive you out of your mind with my weird , uncanny and complete nonsense jokes. I am an atheist and I eat almost everything that smells good.

Well … to tell more …. I am trying to become a 3-d animation graduate. I am also a musician ( whenever I Feel … I Just strum My guitar) and an avid Facebookie ( This ‘facebookie’ term is something that I really like … I Still wonder, who coined it first or where I picked it up from ). And Haa… one more thing … the five fingers of my hand are not equal.

I am a very nonchalant blogger … So you may not see me active ( I hibernate very frequently). And You May see some SMS words like ‘u2′, ‘FU’ etc. in my blog posts. That’s All for now , I guess. I may come up again and start telling more about myself at any point of time .
